Men Giving Botox, Lipo a Try
Deseret Morning News (UT) (2008-02-26) ;
The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery reports that U.S. males received 17 percent more cosmetic treatments in 2007, totaling over 1 million. Physicians, health centers, and spas have made it easier for men to receive cosmetic procedures, as they provide late hours and more manly settings, claims Sanctuary Medical Center plastic surgeon and owner Dr. Jason Pozner.
"It's coming into its own for men," Pozner states. "Men are much more aware of non-surgical products and they are much more amenable now to having things done." The five most-frequent surgical procedures for males in 2007 were liposuction, eyelid surgery, nose alterations, breast reduction, and hair transplants.
Leading nonsurgical procedures included Botox, soft-tissue fillers, laser hair removal, and skin treatments. Surgery and less-invasive procedures among females continued to exceed those in males by 10 to one, and for the most part men avoided a buttocks procedures that is increasing in popularity.
