Men are Muscling Into Cosmetic Procedures
WREG.com (2006-08-21) ;
Illustrating men's increasing interest in cosmetic procedures, the percentage of all U.S. cosmetic-surgery patients last year who were male was 12 percent--up 44 percent from 2000. Among the procedures men are seeking are teeth whitening, Lasik surgery, nose and eyelid procedures, hair transplantation, and liposuction of the "love handles."
Professional concerns were among the motivations for many male patients, who say that their image plays an important role as they seek to advance their careers. However, a personal desire to look good plays a role as well. Unlike more invasive procedures, hair restoration can be performed under local anesthetic, and they can produce permanent results with one or two procedures lasting four to eight hours each.
