Recovery Time after Gynecomastia Surgery

It is usually OK to drive after 2-3 days as long as you don't take pain medications with narcotics.
You can typically start light workout at 5 days after surgery. Stationary bike is typically the best way to start. You should make sure not to strain yourself. Excessive workout early on may cause increased swelling and discomfort. Aggressive arms movements may compromise the ability of your skin to reconnect with the underlying tissues.
When you start lifting weights start with lighter weights biceps workout. Do not exercise your chest muscles for about 5-6 weeks.
If you are not sure what exercise you can and cannot do, you can always ask Dr. Cruise during your follow up visits or call the office.
